Building Your Own Custom Components for Power Apps

Join us as we repeat one of the repeatedly full sessions from Microsoft Build, with a member of the product team showing you how to create your first custom Power Apps UI component using the Power Apps Component Framework! We’ll get the tools you need installed, walk through creating your first project, running it locally, packaging it for deployment and getting it running inside Power Apps. This session will be totally interactive, so be prepared to try it yourself as we go, bring your questions, and be able to go home (or, well, the next room) with a new skill in your toolbox!

If you want to get a jump on installing the prerequisites, here is the list. If you have questions or issues setting this up before the meeting, feel free to ping me on Twitter @98codes.

Prerequisites:

  1. Install Npm (comes with Node.js) or Node.js (comes with npm). We recommend LTS (Long Term Support) version 10.15.3 or higher.
  2. Install .NET Framework 4.6.2 Developer Pack.
  3. If you don’t already have Visual Studio 2017 or later, follow one of these options:
Option 1: Install Visual Studio 2017 or later.
Option 2: Install .NET Core 3.1 SDK and then install Visual Studio Code.
  4. Install Power Apps CLI.

Greg Hurlman is a developer on the Power Apps product team, working to build the Power Apps Component Framework and help pro developers create the custom UI bits that App makers need to get the job done!
